About Semiotix DSF

The mission of the e-magazine DSF —Design, Style, and Fashion‐ is to construct an interface between semiotics and the professions which most obviously engage in the creation, production, and management of signs in a broad range of institutions both private and public. Activities such as interior decoration, fashion creation, make-up and cosmetic management, marketing and advertisement, font design, and website conception, staging and stage direction, to name only a few, involve the resources of the human capacity to innovatively modify our environment and our lives by creating new ways of seeing, feeling, and sense making.

It is expected that dialogues will develop through this platform and will enrich our experience of semiosis (the production of signs and their inexhaustible dynamics) in a way which will prove beneficial for both the practitioners of various arts and trades, and those who engage in reflecting upon the creation, production, and management of signs in society. This first issue offers a sample of the kind of documents, reflections, and discussions which DSF will endeavor to feature. Fresh material and suggestions will always be welcome.
